location: ukraine
area: 49 m2
concept and design:
the main challenge was to maximize the use of limited space, and the solution was to combine multiple functions within shared zones:
bedroom + living room + workspace + wardrobe;
kitchen + balcony + breakfast area.
the remaining space was allocated to the entrance with storage and the bathroom.
the bed was placed next to the window on a raised podium with built-in storage, developed in collaboration with partners. an island between the two main zones divides the space and integrates the tv area, kitchen units, refrigerator, oven, and microwave. this structure was built using a metal frame with decorative wooden cladding, facing the living zone.
visual impact:
the goal was to create an open, light-filled space with easy access to windows. the bedroom area can be separated with a screen, allowing for a more private sleeping zone or a cozy movie setting. in the kitchen, glass doors lead to the balcony, enhancing the sense of openness. materials such as wood, concrete, and white-painted walls were selected to create a clean and balanced aesthetic.
the "xtz" apartment was designed to meet the users’ needs while working closely with architectural constraints, resulting in a collaborative and thoughtful project.
the total budget for the project was limited to 5,000 euros, with some kitchen and bathroom elements reused from the owners’ previous apartment.
